In order to please our peers, we tend to neglect ourselves. We dedicate our lives and our time towards the pursuit of happiness for those we love. It’s easy to feel selfish when we decide to devout our time to be alone, doing something for ourselves.

If I am not for myself, who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, what am I?
And if not now ….. when???”

Women tend to be vulnerable to this habit the most, due to motherly duties, wifely and work commitments that would have a grip on their necks screaming out for immediate attention, that they end up giving up everything and sacrificing their happiness for those dear to them. Tell you what, it’s okay to be selfish, it’s healthy!

The greatest thing we can do is love ourselves first before loving anyone. When we love ourselves,  the feeling is contagious, only positive vibes will be in the atmosphere. Happy people are the best company one can have. Always dedicate time alone to pamper yourself, do something you love and meditate. Observing silence for a moment, away from the daily noise of life can go a long way and make a drastic change in anyone’s life.

We live in a world with a lot of noise pollution,  constant use of technology and too much information overload that enters our lives through watching television, reading the newspaper and endless information we receive on our phones every hour.

Hence doing something for a change and succumbing  to a few minutes of silent moments clears your mind, unwinds you and nurtures your creativity, which is needed to tackle every single day. Many times, depression and stress precede failure to love ourselves  as well as appreciating everything  about us,  inclusive of our flaws.

Sometimes we blame people for not reciprocating our love and yet it’s  because we are unlovable since we don’t take time to love ourselves. Love your neighbor, but love yourself first.

It’s okay to be selfish
